Today's featured book is The Backworlds by M. Pax:In the far future, humanity settles the stars, bioengineering its descendents to survive in a harsh universe.
After the war with the Foreworlders, Backworlders scatter across the
planets left. Competition is fierce and pickings are scant. Scant
enough that Craze’s father decides to improve his fortunes by destroying
his son.
Cut off from family and friends with little money
and even less knowledge of the worlds beyond his own, Craze heads into
an uncertain future. Boarding the transport to Elstwhere, he vows to
make his father regret this day.Comments: Fans of Firefly or Star Wars's
Mos Eisley scenes should enjoy the Backworlds. A lot of it has that
same kind of sleazy, sci-fi Western feel to it, which in some ways is a
lot more fun than traditional Star Trek-type stories with its more
goody-goody rule-following heroes. Obviously someone named Craze isn't
going to be the most straight-laced hero You can buy it for Kindle on Amazon for 99 cents and in paperback for $8.06!
People who read the IWM issue for April, 2014 would find out that perhaps it doesn't pay to do that paperback issue, which is just one of the MANY examples of helpful information one could get for as low as FREE and a maximum of $0.99.
ReplyDeleteAside from that, this book sounds pretty interesting. I loved Firefly. As for this "Star Wars?" I'm not sure I'm familiar with it. Sounds kind of generic, if you ask me.
Actually, this paperback does sell. Of all my books, it sells the best in print. Thanks for featuring the Backworlds. It's actually free in ebook and is also in audio.
ReplyDeleteThat is one that is sitting on my "Kindle stack."
ReplyDeleteOh Wow Mary, off i go to get it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for featuring it, otherwise id not have known and nice meeting you.
